7th Grade Graphing Project Objective: Students will create graphs using different and indifferent variables. They will design a business flyer selling their services and including their graphs. Students Instructions 1. Choose what kind of service your company will offer. For ideas see the bottom of this page. 2. Set values for choice of company. Example: 1 hour of babsitting will cost $10. 2 hours will cost $15.00 3. Summarize your company in 5 sentences, answering these questions:
What services do you provide your customers?
Why should they use your services?
Cost of your service.
How will they contact you?
4. Find a picture in Google Images clip art to use as your logo. Save this icon along with a couple of other images to use on your flyer. 5. Choose a name for your service. 6. Using Graphing web tool insert all of your math data for your service company. 7. Take all of these items and insert them into a Word document to create your flyer.
Create a Graph Instructions 1. Open the Graphing web tool 2. Select Line Graph a. Select Legend and set to –no legend- 3. Click on the Data Tab a. Type in a Title for your graph Example: Dog Walking Business b. Type in a Label for the X – Axis Example: Number of Dogs c. Type in a Label for the Y-Axis Example: Price d. Add Item labels Example: Item One = One Dog, Item Two = Two Dogs, etc… i. Adjust item numbers for the number of dogs you are willing to walk or children to babysit e. Add a value for each item Example: One Dog = 5, Two Dogs = 7 i. DO NOT use $ signs or add words to the value boxes 4. Select Preview to see if your graph is displaying properly 5. Personalize the graph using the color, font and size options in the Design, Data and Label tabs 6. Select Print/Save Tab a. Click on download b. Select JPG for file format Click Download Tab 7. Open the graph.jpg file and add to your business flyer in Microsoft Word
